Update concerning The Washington D.C. Teabag Party, April 1st, 2009
« Let the Sheeple hear the truth, Obama the Liar Exposed as NWO member | Main | Are you this American? »
Would you like a little tea with that pork, congressman?
It seems that people are concerned about sending a tea bag in an envelope to our "Dear Leader's" in DC. I saw on the New American Tea Party site where they are saying we should send the label from the tea bags. I think this is a capitol idea! First, it gets the message to our elected thuggery in D.C. and secondly, we aren't wasting good tea on a bunch of thieves.
So, Only send the label from your tea bags. An alternative to this is to send a picture of a tea bag, you can choose from many pictures of tea bags here. You can also fax your image of a tea bag to your elected thug. Congressional Phone Numbers, Fax Numbers and Mailing Addresses.
Origin of the idea: On the evening of 16 December 1773, a group of American colonists who called themselves "The Sons of Liberty" furtively boarded the ship Dartmouth, which was docked in Boston harbor with a load of East India Company tea. Working through the night, the colonists dumped over 45 tons of tea into the waters of the harbor as a protest against the Tea Act passed by the British government. The event, which came to be known as "The Boston Tea Party," was one of the seminal events of the American Revolution and remains one of the most iconic moments in all of U.S. history.
In 2009, the iconic status of that event was referenced in the name of the New American Tea Party, described as a "coalition of citizens and organizations concerned about the recent trend of fiscal recklessness in government" who have begun coordinating events around the U.S. with the announced goal of protesting largesse in federal spending. The item quoted above seeks to take up the "Tea Party" spirit by encouraging Americans to mail tea bags to the White House on 1 April 2009 (in order to arrive by 15 April, the day on which income tax filings are due) as a form of symbolic protest against "the way Washington is handling our taxes." (The concept is vaguely reminiscent of a 1955 campaign that had citizens mailing small bags of wheat to President Eisenhower to encourage the U.S. to provide surplus food to flood victims in China.)
Of course, everyone is free to choose whether or not to participate in symbolic protests, so such actions don't have much in the way of verifiable "true" or "false" aspects — the only issue is how effective the chosen form of protest is likely to be. With that in mind, we offer a few caveats for those inclined to participate:
- An entry in the New American Tea Party blog states that they don't endorse the effort: We have received hundreds of questions about an email circulating that urges folks to send tea to Washington on April 1st or April 15th. This effort is not endorsed by the New American Tea Party, so we can't answer any questions about it.
- Given the more stringent security procedures for mail handling enacted after 9/11, there are no guarantees envelopes containing mailed teabags will get through to the White House without being discarded or significantly delayed, something also noted in the New American Tea Party blog: It is a neat idea, but things like that will likely either be held up getting scanned or end up getting thrown away due to security precautions.(A subsequent New American Tea Party blog entry suggested that just mailing the labels from tea bags might be a way of avoiding this potential pitfall.)
- Envelopes that cannot be run through USPS sorting machines are subject to an additional 20¢ postage surcharge. A mailed item is considered nonmachinable if:
- It is a square letter (the minimum size for a square envelope is 5 x 5 inches)
- It is too rigid — does not bend easily
- It has clasps, string, buttons, or similar closure devices
- It has an address parallel to the shorter dimension of the letter
- It contains items that cause the surface to be uneven
- The length divided by height is less than 1.3 or more than 2.5
- The specific aims of the tea bag protest are not clearly articulated in the e-mail quoted above, so senders might wish to include explanatory notes with their envelopes stating the desired outcome, such as: "I enclose this teabag as a protest against the passage of any further economic stimulus packages that provide money to businesses without provisions for strict transparency and accountability in how that money is to be spent" or "I enclose this teabag as a protest against the passage of any further economic stimulus packages that include earmarks."

Intelligent Americans can see just more ridicious Reslug desperation and nonsense, probably coming from the braindead morons from Faux Noise. Still laughing!!
Do you not yet understand what the phrase "tea bag" means to a LARGE percent of the US population?
I'm actually excited to be an American standing up against the evil government, just as our forefathers did. We've become so spoiled that we do not know what its like to fight for our freedom. Until now. God Bless America.
Wow, it's amazing how a little idea or suggestion can suddenly flush from the woodwork all the crazies who like to use four letter words online.
It's just an idea folks. Don't like it? Move On!!!
I certainly don't like what's been going on in DC. And I'm sorry I ever voted for Big O. What a disappointment . . .
"The person who wants to get something done, does it."
Amazing how a simple statement speaks volumes. It's apparent that there are people who are satisfied with government being run just the way it is. It's a shame, because that is not what our forefathers fought and died for. If you actually read history you would understand what the "tea party" is all about.
Doing nothing gets the same result. So, if you want to sit back and laugh at us "poor, stupid, simple folk" because what we are doing is not going to make a difference, that's fine with me. It's quite wonderful actually, to have no opposition. Makes what we're fighting for a lot easier.
What can it hurt? I am an intelligent citizen that is outraged with the DC way of doing things. I will spend part of my whopping $14.00 a week extra from the stimulus package to buy my stamp! And it will help the economy by spending! Not to mention boosting the poor postal services....they are broke you know.
Well for the guy above sorry he voted for President O, like others that say that, i wonder what you were thinking also. The man was clear what he was going to do, he didnt hide a thing. He said the night of the election he planned to bankrupt the coal mining industry and our bills would skyrocket and yet you gaga-eyed people still voted for the nut.
Could we use this form of protest against gay marriage. I think a bunch of republicans tea bagging the gays would be very effective.
what is wrong with you? What has Obama done that is "so evil?" Seriously. You Republicans are acting like children here. You want to change stuff? How about working with the opposition in order to COMPROMISE so that the most number of people are happy. This teabagging nonsense just makes you look like a bunch of spoiled brats who are used to getting their own way and when they don't they throw a temper tantrum.
"And I'm sorry I ever voted for Big O"
Isn't lying one of those sins you "real Americans" are supposed to be against?
It is very sad that Americans continue to have a love affair with charisma when they vote for their leaders. This is the reason the country is in trouble. For all those who vote either party, please wake up and weigh your actual views. The majority of the country doesn't vote their views, they vote for who they think the winner will be. You do not waste your vote by voting 3rd party, you waste your vote by not voting your principles.
For Mr. O voter above, please, before the next election go to http://www.lp.org and just educate yourself. In the end your education will benefit us all, as will your voting for who really does represent your views.
Okay,a few things...
a)this protest shows that those involved know little about american history.the boston tea party protested england's monopoly endorsement of the east india company.the tax was legislated without the colonists having a rep in parliament, hence the phrase "tazation without representation"
b)we're still paying taxes under the Bush tax code.obama's taxes haven't even been put into action yet
c)almost everyone will be paying less in taxes under the obama plan
please people, learn the facts before you express yourself.don't let sensationalism, rumor and urban myth convince you something that isn't true
"I certainly don't like what's been going on in DC. And I'm sorry I ever voted for Big O. What a disappointment . . ."
Yup, the guy has been in office for NEARLY 3 months and hasn't been able to undo 8 years of Bush. For shame sir, for shame!
Tea bag me you moron.
I agree totally. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone was this clear headed.
I really very liked this post. Can I copy it to my blog? Thank you in advance. Sincerely

i've got your teabag hangin', you fucking morons.
