Amanda Terkel over on ThinkProgress has been hammering of late on U.S. Representative Michele Bachmann (R-MN) for her crusade against the pre-detention camp American Community Survey. Terkel asserts that Bachmann and others are fear-mongering the idea that the Obama administration could use the Census data for nefarious purposes.
In Amanda's case, I'm sure its fun and exciting to work for such high powered people and you get invited to really fun parties with important politicians. Unfortunately, you tend to get blinded by the light emanating from these faux messiah's who encourage you to help them fullfill their oft un-american activities. So its easy to see how you could be so naive as to the direction your Dear Leader is taking this country and the lengths that I'm certain he is willing to go to to preserve his power and install his tired and failed socialist change as the defacto form of government here in the U.S. for his masters in the New World Order.
Let's also be certain as to which "census" we speak of. Bachmann is discussing the American Community Survey which asks hundreds of questions. Buchner is deflecting to the true census which will be conducted in 2010, which only asks 10 questions. I'll answer 10 questions willingly given the answers are used for their constitutionally intended purpose of reapportionment. As to the ACS, the government, obama and acorn can kiss my non-partisan southside. Its none of their business and for those out there anguishing about this intrusion into your private life and your not sure how or if you should answer these questions, I wrote a great little piece on how to Answer the American Community Survey.
So lets ask some really tough questions.
Why is ACORN (a non-profit, non-governmental organization) involved in the census process?
In your article you wrote that it's a, "federal crime for any Census worker to violate the confidentiality of the census" and that "The information is not even shared with other government agencies, so there’s no chance that it would be “handed over to the FBI and other organizations" While that might be true for census workers, what if Dear Leader Obama issued an order to the census bureau ordering that they give the FBI and other agencies this information? (keep in mind, "previous census data was turned over to the FBI and other governmental agencies at the request of President Roosevelt.", check it out, its in your high school history books.)
What is Obama's record on illegal wire-tapping? Seems your Exalted Leader is worse than Bush on Wire-tapping. You might say what's this got to do with the census? It should give you a perspective (alert you even) as to Obama's views concerning our (you and I) rights with regard to privacy and census data.
Do we really put more information on a credit card application? How dis-ingenious of Buchner to make such an odious claim. Again, people are concerned about the ACS, he references the 2010 census. Last time I checked a CC application didn't ask me if I have a toilet that flushes. Which if I don't probably means I'm hiding weapons of mass destruction in the outhouse out back yonder.
Not very many questions, although I could give you many many more all of which would be just as important. Representative Bachmann has a right and a duty to be concerned for her constituents privacy concerns and her own. You as a citizen of this country need to be concerned also, because this invasion of privacy affects you also. So which do you have, a toilet that flushes or the outhouse?

The first census in 1790 asked just six questions: the name of the head of the household, the number of free white males older than 16, the number of free white males younger than 16, the number of free white females, the number of other free persons, and the number of slaves.
